All windows and doors system for the project were developed and manufactured in Italy. The windows were to be produced in Italy and shipped by container to the USA to be installed on the existing structure. The vintage style window made out of powder coated steel frames were custom designed for the project. Aluminum fixed lights and concealed shutters were inserted inside the primary steel structure. The units arrived in the USA in kit form and later assembled and installed on site.
Background
The project consisted in the re-design of the New York Dock Building, located on the Red Hook waterfront. The original New York Dock Company Building used to house all goods that were shipped into NYC before being distributed throughout the USA.
Solution
nCLO3URE’s engineers were involved to select the product required to achieve the glass performance and the overall façade performance for the project.
During the pre-construction phase, several shop drawings, schedule of works, logistic plans, material submittals, and structural calculations for the façade were reviewed by nCLO3URE’s engineers.
While under construction, nCLO3URE’s engineers addicted the project team to regularly visit the glass, steel and windows factories to survey and record the quality of products shipped in the USA. The surveys also consisted in documenting the container loading in order to ensure the consistency of product quality before and after shipping.
